Serena Williams won her first gold medal in Women’s Singles on Saturday afternoon in London in the 2012 Olympics after defeating Russian Maria Sharapova in two straight sets 6-0, 6-1.

Serena immediately started strong in the first game as she acquired three of her points via aces.

It was almost beautiful the way Serena was able to quickly get through the match and defeat Sharapova. It was all Serena in the first set. She wacked balls down the line and controlled the rhythm of the game.
